We are committed to training residents to become superior well-rounded clinicians that have the skills to become educators, researchers, and leaders in Emergency Medicine. Are you ready to join our team?
The Emergency Department offers fellowship opportunities in the areas of Sports Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, Critical Care Medicine, and Emergency Ultrasound. Our teaching faculty, fellows and residents are significantly integrated in the college’s undergraduate medical education mission and hold key leadership positions within UF Health Shands Hospital and the UF College of Medicine. The Department of Emergency Medicine also features a growing research environment, which has been significantly enhanced through collaborative opportunities throughout the College of Medicine and institutes on the UF campus.
During your Clerkship at the Department of Emergency Medicine, you will see an undifferentiated patient population, meaning you are to see patients as acuity dictates and you will never be barred from seeing any patients. You are actively involved in trauma alerts, septic workups, pediatric resuscitations, stroke alerts, chest pain work ups, etc. The curriculum for our required clerkship was created to equip our students with knowledge and experiences in areas of medical education no other rotation was able to provide. These include emergency airway management, trauma management, acute chest &abdominal pain work ups, toxicology & environmental medicine.
